on site gallery

on site gallery is one of my favourite spaces in cape town.
it really feels magical - like you are stepping into a different world !
it is a good example of what theatre in retail can do to you.

individual items are sourced from around the world and displayed in a seemingly 'un-fussed' way

you can always find an interesting decor item that will add that touch of uniqueness to what you already have.

:)))

i really like the quirky display touches throughout the shop, it makes light of other objects that can appear heavy and serious

i get so excited about all the vintage dressmaker busts !!!
it is to a window dresser like prada heels to a fashionista !
on site gallery is in the palms decor & lifestyle centre ,sir lowry rd

cassis paris patisserie & boulangerie

there are not many things better than a pain au chocolat and an espresso to kick-start your day! if you feel the same, you will love cassis. not only are the freshly baked pastries and bread delicious, they are also really beautiful and so is the shop. the design is minimal, everything is simple with clean lines and a neutral colour scheme.
the shop design and interior works together to make the beautiful little cakes and tartlets stand on their own !

how stunning are these mini cakes and tarts displayed in the window ?
an absolute visual feast !

the long angled mirror that runs along the one wall, reflects the all beautiful cakes and pastries that is displayed in the fridges

yum yum yum !!!

you can find cassis in gardens centre and a smaller one (that serves coffee !) in newlands
bon appetit !

alexandra höjer opens !

alexandra höjer shop opened today in kloofsteet lifestyle centre.
what a sweet little shop ! fans of alexandra's clothes will not be disappointed. the shop is unpretentious and chic with lots of small details that give it an edge

look at this beautiful massive mirror in the entrance, cleverly reflecting the opposite wall
the stunning parquet floor brings all the different elements in the shop together

love the little hooks !

really like how 3 very different items work together
african influenced hook, vintage hanger and pretty feminine dress

the display boxes and branding creates a nice focus on the main wall

the owners did everything themselves, and one can feel the pride and passion when you come into the store.
lovely!

goodman gallery - morbid appetites, frances goodman

the goodman gallery is just one of the most fabulous spaces for an exhibition. i love the white shiny floors !
the current exhibition morbid appetites, touches on activities like eating, shopping and taking medicine and how society turns it into deadly vices.

the slogans are cleverly made with hook-and-eye fastenings, typically used to make clothes tighter and looser

some of the slogans are 'nothing tastes as good as being thin'
'starve me sane' and 'thinspiration'

the stealthwealth series morph fake and authentic designer shopping bags and luggage, imitating high end labels, made out of sequence and everything shiny

morbid appetites exhibition is on at the goodman galley until 12 december

gregor jenkin

ok,so this is not a window,as in a display window, this is how the shop looks from the outside.
the shop is really the window , you can see all the amazing furniture from the outside - but please go in, you will be a richer
(or poorer) person for it !

i love this raw wall with the long white panel on in.

there are these little odd/quirky yet very classy, little displays on the furniture that plays with scale and adds a
'softness' to the simple elegance of the pieces.

i read that gregor did a stint in London where he helped make 'window dummies' for Ralph Lauren !!!
how amazing is that ?
gregor jenkin's new studio is in shortmarket street and well worth a visit !

olive

in my view, olive is the most beautiful shop in cape town. the window displays are forever changing and always eye catching.

inside the window. note the floor, shelf and wall is covered the same

i love how cleverly the back of the window is used
i think someone with money (and taste !) should buy all these pictures on the wall and display it like this, in their home.
what a statement !
